RSPCA NSW is urgently appealing for public assistance after a Shetland Pony was found abandoned on the side of a road in Greater Sydney late yesterday afternoon.
The pony was reportedly dumped on Bailey Ave, West Hoxton at approximately 3:50 to 3:55pm on Thursday 29 July, around the location marked in BLUE on the map.
A dark orange or red coloured ute (without a canopy) was sighted pulling a dark grey single axle box trailer with a cage on top that contained the pony.
The driver appeared to be a man with brown hair and a stocky build.
The ute travelled down Twenty Ninth Ave and crossed a small bridge before turning left onto Thirty Second Ave and then right onto Bailey Ave. The pony was located later that afternoon by inspectors on Twenty Third Ave at the location in RED on the map.
An equine veterinarian was immediately contacted and dispatched to the location. Sadly, the physical condition of the pony was such that the pony was deemed cruel to be kept alive and the pony was humanely euthanised.
Inspectors would like to speak to the driver of the ute matching the description provided, or any persons who may have information in relation to a pony matching the description and photo.
Anyone with information is urged to contact RSPCA NSW at 1300 CRUELTY (1300 278 3589) or online via www.rspcansw.org/reportcruelty.
